Why This Channel Exists

Every YouTube channel has a reason for existing. This is mine. It's the story of how photography, filmmaking and the quiet landscapes of Britain gradually came together to become Western Light.

Behind the Film

Some films are about places.

This one is about people.

Or perhaps more accurately... about one person.

For a long time, I thought this film was about explaining why I started another YouTube channel.

As I wrote it, I realised it was really about something else.

Lately, it feels as though I'm standing somewhere between the person I was...

...and the person I'm slowly becoming.

Photography has been part of that journey for many years.

Filmmaking has become part of it more recently.

Western Light somehow brought those two things together.

Perhaps that's why I wanted to make this film.

Not simply to introduce a channel...

...but to explain why it matters to me.

If this film has a message, it isn't that everyone should start a YouTube channel.

It's that we're all still becoming who we are.

This is simply where my journey has led me.
